From No Rabbie Burns by Stuart McLean One Night as I did Wander One night as I did wander, Where junkies like to shoot, I sat me down tae ponder, On a down-an-out’s old boot. Auld Annie hobbled by me, And climbed into her box, She cursed away like billyo, For she’d caught a doze o’ pox. O why’s there such injustice, In this bonnie land of oors? Where some folk live in castles, An’ others live as whores. Ah’d like tae right awe the wrangs, That blight oor lives today, But there’s no’ much thit Ah can dae, As a poet on minimum pay.
